ALARA our Story…
“I knew the original owner of Alara very well. She started this business with her
partner at the time, in 1979.
I was at the time a regular shopper at Alara since the whole concept matched my
organic farming and natural living background.
One day I was approached by the owner to see if I was interested in buying her business
since I loved Alara so much.
Wow that was the best offer I had ever had! Owning a health food shop in this beautiful
location called Bloomsbury.
I was a computer science engineer at the time and hence left my mainstream field
of business to go back to my root of healthy and organic living to work in Alara.
I have now owned Alara, and ran it with a wonderful team of dedicated staff -
some of whom have been with us since the beginning – for over 12 glorious years
and together we have taken Alara from strength to strength.
Alara takes pride in being a family business and totally independent.
Alara has had two major face lifts one in 2000 and another one in 2007.
People comment that since we have taken Alara over the shop has blossomed further.
They find our large and varied choice of stock very appealing and find the staff
very helpful and knowledgeable.
We are very proud of what we have achieved and very grateful to Alara’s dedicated
staff for maintaining this level of service and of course to all our loyal customers
for acknowledging it and supporting us throughout, without whom we know, it will
be impossible to continue.”
